- Salary: £22,254.36 - £24,097.97
- Plus well-being cash plan, pension scheme (LGPS), and additional Lift Schools benefits
- Permanent, Full Time role
- 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year
- Starts September 2026 (or sooner)
About Lift New Rickstones
Lift New Rickstones is graded ‘Good’ (November 2023) and is equipped with a state-of-the-art building featuring outstanding facilities for students and staff alike. Over the past 8 years, the academy has seen student numbers double, making it a popular, oversubscribed choice in the community. In response, a new building was added to meet growing demand.
The school is known for its friendly, supportive team, high staff retention rates, and a strong focus on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to further develop its talented staff.
About the Role: Pastoral Leader
This is a critical role for a passionate individual who thrives on supporting young people’s wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance while fostering their personal and academic growth.
Responsibilities (Key Duties)
As the Pastoral Leader, you will:
- Work proactively with students to optimise their personal and academic progress.
- Collaborate with families, staff, and external agencies to create a strong support network for students.
- Apply knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practice (TPP) and lead SEMH interventions.
- Improve data-driven outcomes in behaviour and attendance, using or developing analytical skills.
- Manage complex situations, including behaviour incidents, with calmness, empathy, and professionalism.
- Champion safeguarding, ensuring high standards of child protection and welfare within the school.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging environment for students.

Person Specification (Requirements)
Experience & Knowledge
- Substantial experience working with young people, contributing to their confidence and motivation.
- Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practice (TPP)
- Experience leading SEMH interventions (Social Emotional Mental Health).
- Familiarity or willingness to develop proficiency in data-driven improvements for behaviour and attendance.
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work confidently in high-pressure situations, applying empathy alongside professionalism.
- Strong commitment to pastoral support, wellbeing, and safeguarding.
- Excellent teamwork and ability to demonstrate self-initiative.
- Ability to work effectively within a supportive, collaborative team.
