Pastoral Officer
Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time only Contract Start Date: October 2026 Location: The Edge Academy
About the Role
The Pastoral Officer role is a dynamic and rewarding position within our setting, where you will work closely with students in varied capacities:
- Within the classroom setting
- During one-to-one interventions
- Supporting offsite visits, trips, and activities
You will engage with students across Key Stage 3 (KS3) to GCSE level, supporting a range of abilities and educational needs. Independence, adaptability, and a positive, resilient, and collaborative attitude are essential.
This role offers creative autonomy and an opportunity to have a meaningful impact on pupils' development.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt and deliver the curriculum tailored to individual needs
- Liaise with class teachers to monitor and support pupils’ progress
- Deliver one-to-one interventions for:
- Speech and language support
- Literacy enhancement
- Numeracy development
- Work closely with staff to plan and adapt interventions where necessary
- Act as a positive representative of the ‘Safe, Ready, Respectful’ ethos throughout the academy

Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree in a relevant discipline OR Level 3 Teaching Assistant (TA) qualification
- Minimum of one year of school-based experience within an educational setting
- Strong understanding of supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Ability to adapt curriculum materials effectively for individual learners
- Skills in quickly building positive relationships with pupils
- Proficiency in spoken and written English (due to the Immigration Act 2016 – Section 7 requirements)
- Commitment to safeguarding principles and a supportive, team-oriented approach
