Pastoral Support Worker

Pastoral Support Worker – Uxbridge and Hillingdon Campuses

Location: Syon Manor College, Uxbridge, London, UB8 1SZ & UB8 3HD (Notes: Full range of hours and duties may span both sites.)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday–Friday | 8:30am – 4:30pm Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only Salary: Up to £23,500 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata) Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking a Passionate, Dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join our committed team, providing high-quality support to pupils in line with our organisation’s values, policies, and regulatory standards. This role is vital in helping students—many with autism or additional needs—access education, develop independence, and feel safe, supported, and understood.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide compassionate pastoral care and create a nurturing environment for students to thrive.
  • Work closely with students with autism and complex additional needs, supporting their emotional, social, and academic development.
  • Ensure students feel safe, included, and valued, helping them build confidence and independence.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic support.
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and collaboration among students.
  • Assist in monitoring well-being, safeguarding concerns, and developing individualised support plans.
  • Engage actively with parents, carers, and external agencies to foster strong school-home partnerships.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone with:

✔ A compassionate, patient, and dedicated mindset, with genuine concern for young people’s well-being. ✔ The ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when dealing with diverse emotional and behavioural challenges. ✔ Strong communication and teamwork skills—collaboration is key to making a positive difference. ✔ An organised, proactive approach to your work, with a willingness to learn and adapt. ✔ Passion for education, support work, and helping students grow in self-esteem and independence.

Desirable Qualities & Experience

While experience is valued, we welcome applicants who have the right heart, commitment, and desire to make a difference:

  • Driving licence highly desirable (due to frequent offsite learning and activities).
  • Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Colleges (or equivalent).
  • Level 2 SEN (Special Educational Needs) qualification, or currently working towards one.
  • Experience in education, SEN support, autism care, or similar settings (but not essential).
