About the Role
Copleston High School is seeking 2 caring, resilient, and highly motivated Pastoral Support Workers (non-teaching role) to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by supporting their wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and personal development.
Working closely with Leaders of Learning, pastoral staff, teachers, families, and external agencies, you will provide day-to-day support for students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will build positive relationships with students, act as a trusted role model, and contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
The role involves supporting behaviour management, monitoring attendance and punctuality, responding to incidents, and helping students manage social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. You will maintain a visible presence around the school, carry out learning walks, support safeguarding procedures, and work collaboratively with staff to ensure students receive the support they need.
You will also liaise with parents and carers, maintain accurate records, contribute to meetings, and work with external agencies where appropriate. Strong communication skills, excellent organizational ability, and the confidence to remain calm in challenging situations are essential.
In return, you will join a supportive team committed to high standards, student wellbeing, and professional development. This is a rewarding opportunity to have a lasting impact on students’ lives and help them thrive within our school community.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
