Pastoral Year Lead – Redruth School
11–16 Co-educational Comprehensive NOR 1424 Fixed term, September 2026 – 31 August 2027 (37 hours per week, £28,572 – £33,326) (Pro-rata adjustment applies to part/term-time hours)
About the Role
Redruth School, a 11–16 co-educational comprehensive set in stunning West Cornwall, is seeking a Pastoral Year Lead who is:
- Passionately committed to supporting young people
- Adaptable and enthusiastic about fostering educational, social, and physical development
- Proactive in nurturing positive relationships with students and their families
This role will involve leading a year team of ~10 tutors and 300 students, ensuring they embrace their potential in academics, character, and well-being.
Responsibilities

Support & Mentorship:
- Guide ~10 tutors in delivering pastoral care to ~300 students.
- Develop trusting relationships with pupils and families to promote holistic growth.

Student Welfare & Engagement:
- Address educational, social, and physical needs through trauma-informed frameworks.
- Foster an inclusive environment where students thrive emotionally and academically.

External Collaboration:
- Connect with external agencies to support vulnerable or challenged students.
- Advocate for student needs where required.

- Professional Skills:

- Demonstrate exceptional communication, organisational abilities, and computer literacy.
Requirements
- Formal qualifications to ‘A’ level standard or equivalent.
- Proven experience supporting young people in an educational context.
- Ability to work effectively with external support networks (e.g. social services, mental health professionals).
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practice (valued, but not mandatory if demonstrated commitment).
- Strong interpersonal skills: friendly, self-driven, and empathetic.
- Outstanding organisational and tech fluency.
