Compensation: £27,000 per year (plus high bonus potential and overtime opportunities)

About The Role
We are seeking PAT Test Engineers to join our team in a home-based (or hybrid) capacity operating in Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire (LU, AL, SG postcodes) and the surrounding region.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct portable appliance testing (PAT) across commercial sites including:
- Facilities management
- Retail premises
- Commercial, educational, and local authority locations
- (Note: Domestic housing is not part of this role.)
- Undertake minor remedial works as required by test findings
- Generate accurate PAT test reports, which are quality-checked by the Technical Manager
- Work closely with the Technical Manager and Operations team
- Utilise bespoke testing software designed for efficiency and speed—your feedback is actively incorporated into software updates
- Focus on larger sites and bigger jobs, offering engineers extended on-site engagement and earnings opportunities

Operating Structure
- Work contracted to 40 hours per week, with paid overtime and weekend work available if required
- Training sites are organised on a regional basis—while travel time minimisation is prioritised, local site access cannot be guaranteed
- Occasional out-of-hours or weekend work may be requested based on client availability and site type
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Essential Requirements
- A recognised electrical qualification (approved electrical tester) or equivalent PAT testing certification
- Demonstrated recent qualifications in PAT testing, not simply outdated past experience
- A track record of thorough appliance testing
- Strict adherence to company safety policies and electrical legislation
- Commitment to ongoing professional development through training and legislation updates

Salary and Benefits
- Base salary: £27,000 per annum
- Bonus scheme:
- £0.15 per item for testing 325+ items
- £0.25 per item for 375+ items
- £0.35 per item for 425+ items
- Overtime pay: Elevated to £0.40 per item for weekend shifts or hours beyond 40 per week
- Visual PAT tests (i.e., visual-only assessments) count as half an item toward bonuses and overtime.
- Pension Scheme (contributions included)
- Holiday entitlement: 23 days plus all UK bank holidays (including Christmas shutdown)
- Hybrid company car available
- Kit and clothing provided as standard
