Pathfinder Security Officer (PSyO) – RAF Wyton
About the Role
The Pathfinder Security Officer (PSyO) is a pivotal position within Defence Intelligence (DI), supporting critical operations by ensuring full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and procedural security requirements. This role sits at the intersection of physical, personnel, information, and STRAP (Specifically Targeted Requirement for Access and Protection) security, championing a robust security culture while leading strategic security initiatives. The post is based at RAF Wyton and operates at 37 hours per week (no hybrid working permitted).
Key Function: Act as the principal security advisor, fostering trust and safeguarding sensitive intelligence activities across internal and external partners.
Responsibilities
The Pathfinder Security Officer will:

Lead security strategy and compliance:
- Ensure JSP 440 compliance and smooth execution of all security policies at RAF Wyton.
- Oversee protective, personnel, document, and information security, including dealing with complex scenarios requiring independent judgement.

Coordinate security activities and processes:
- Manage guarding, monitoring arrangements, and contractor interfaces with established strict standards.
- Procure, implement, and audit Pathfinder Security Orders to maintain a proactive and well-documented security framework.
- Facilitate the 更新 of access controls, inductions, pre-and-de-induction checks, and compliance audits.

Manage STRAP function:
- Authorise verification processes for STRAP material, maintaining records and audit trails for full accountability.

Respond to security incidents and crises:
- Investigate security breaches/infringements and report findings with due urgency.
- Minimise controllable risks to sustain operational resilience during disruptions.

Enhance a security conscience:
- Champion security awareness initiatives across teams, embedding good practice through education and behavioural incentives.

- Present findings, contribute to policy recommendations at meetings, and drive efficiency through best-practice innovation.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Substantial experience managing high-security environments and security policy implementation.
- Ability to lead, influence large stakeholders and balance competing priorities.
- ** Confederate communication (verbal/written)** to brief, advise and coach peers at executive levels.
- Unwavering judgement and decision-making on risks, incidents, and ethical factors.
- Bespoke prioritisation delivering complex worklado, under strict deadlines.
- Acute attention to detail for record-keeping, sensitive info division, and compliance integrity.
- Discreet professionalism towards disclosed matters.
- Technical proficiency in vetting systems, IT platforms, and OFFICE tools.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in STRAP protocols, ample line management roles, or formal qualifications in:
- Business administration
- Security management
- Vetting complexity or risk assessment

Working Arrangements
- Full-time office presence (100% attendance) is mandatory.
- Organisational leave: 25 yearly days (30 max upon seniority) + statutory Bank Holidays-dependent days.
