Patient Billing Administrator
Senior Medical Billing Officer
Location: King Edward VII’s Hospital, 5-10 Beaumont Street, Marylebone, London W1G 6AA Contract Type: Permanent (37.5 hrs/week) | On-site Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum + fantastic benefits
About the Role
You will play a key role in supporting the financial health of King Edward VII’s Hospital. By ensuring accurate, timely billing and reimbursement for all services rendered—including seamless patient billing, query resolution, and compliance with healthcare regulations—you will contribute directly to improved patient satisfaction, optimised revenue collection, and the delivery of high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate accurate and timely patient bills, ensuring all services and charges are clearly documented and free of errors.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims promptly to minimise delays and reduce rejection risks.
- Respond to patient and stakeholder billing queries professionally, providing clear guidance and resolving issues efficiently with empathy.
- Monitor outstanding payments and proactively follow up on overdue accounts to support cash flow and reduce revenue loss.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and industry billing standards.
- Analyse billing data and reports to identify trends, errors, or process improvements for optimisation.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams (finance, clinical, patient services) to resolve billing discrepancies and streamline workflows.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, preferably within a hospital or healthcare environment.
- In-depth knowledge of billing processes, including claims submission, medical coding (e.g., ICD-10/CPT), and reimbursement mechanisms.
- Proficiency in billing systems and electronic platforms (e.g., Epic, Cerner, or equivalent).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain 99%+ accuracy in data-handling tasks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address billing anomalies and inconsistencies.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with patients, insurers, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently while contributing collaboratively to a high-performing team.
