Veterinary Patient Care Assistant (MiNightVet – Caterham)

About the Role

(MiNightVet) are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join their team as a Veterinary Patient Care Assistant (PCA) on a Part-Time (20 hours per week), Permanent basis.

The role operates on Saturdays and Sundays, 08:00 - 19:00 per week. Applicants will also be considered for part-time sharing arrangements.

As a Veterinary Patient Care Assistant, you’ll support qualified RVNs and veterinarians across the following tasks:

  • Providing nursing care to patients
  • Assisting with animal restraint during treatments
  • Feeding, walking, and cleaning of recovering animals
  • Maintaining emergency and operating facilities
  • General practice cleaning and maintenance
  • Processing internal lab samples
  • Answering emergency calls
  • Covering receptionist duties, including:
    • Responding to public queries
    • Booking appointments
    • Processing payments

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with:

  • Strong communication and empathy—critical when dealing with distressed pet owners.
  • Excellent customer service experience, particularly in public-facing roles.
  • Experience in animal care (including feeding, grooming, medication, and welfare needs).
  • Resilience to handle emotional and challenging situations confidently.
  • A positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with veterinary environments is desirable, though not mandatory.
