Patient Care Assistant

You’ll be the heart and soul of our clinic, ensuring that every patient feels loved, safe, and pampered. We have the perfect opportunity for you!

We are currently seeking a full-time Patient Care Assistant to join our team in Putney.

As a Patient Care Assistant, you will be responsible for providing top-notch care and support to our furry patients and their owners.

This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about animals and eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Ensure the safety, welfare, and comfort of all patients at all times
  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of inpatient accommodation to the highest standard
  • Feed, water, and groom animals in accordance with individual care plans
  • Ensure animals are exercised as required
  • Provide basic medical care under supervision, including administering medications as directed
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to create a calm, comfortable environment for patients

Clinical Support

  • Work to a high clinical standard throughout all areas of the premises
  • Ensure consult rooms are fully stocked with necessary supplies at all times
  • Support veterinary and nursing staff with clinical procedures as required

Client and Administrative Support

  • Handle client communications and enquiries professionally and with care
  • Arrange appointments and liaise with clients as necessary
  • Take payments, record test results, and carry out administrative duties accurately
  • Update clinical records and respond to colleague and client queries in a timely manner
  • Provide professional, efficient service at all times

Virtual Care Cover (Occasional)

From time to time, the PCA will be asked to support the Virtual Care team by covering occasional Virtual Care Assistant (VCA) shifts. This is to ensure consistent member support during peak demand, holiday cover, or business need. Shifts are scheduled in advance with reasonable notice and may be worked from home or from the clinic, in line with the Virtual Care rota.

During a Virtual Care shift, the PCA will be expected to:

  • Deliver warm, professional support to members via live chat and telephone, maintaining the brand's caring and joyful tone
  • Triage inbound enquiries, distinguishing between urgent, semi-urgent, and routine requests, and escalate emergency or time-sensitive cases to clinical staff in line with established protocols
  • Coordinate appointment bookings across clinics, proactively offering alternatives when availability is limited
  • Advocate for preventative care by encouraging wellness check-ups, vaccinations, and routine health screenings
  • Support members through emotionally sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Navigate multiple software platforms simultaneously, including chat tools, electronic medical records, and scheduling calendars
  • Maintain accurate records of all member interactions and outcomes
