JOB TITLE: Patient Flow & Triage Registered Veterinary Nurse

REPORTING TO: Patient Flow Coordinator, Head of Nursing Services

START DATE: Summer 2026

SALARY: From £32,000 - £36,000 DOE

An exciting opportunity has opened at London Vet Specialists for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join the Patient Flow team in our multi-disciplinary referral hospital in Hammersmith. The role will work closely with our Patient Flow Coordinator RVN to triage emergency referrals and optimise our patient workflow, providing a unique opportunity to diversify your veterinary nursing career. The ideal candidate will have experience within a referral hospital.

Role Overview

The Patient Flow RVN will be responsible for working collaboratively with the Patient Flow Coordinator, Head of Nursing Services (HoNS), Client Care Team Leader and teams across the hospital to deliver an optimal patient flow through all services.

Your responsibilities will include the triage and acceptance of emergency referrals and admission of patients through our workflow channel for investigations and procedures. This includes patient admit processing through our PMS and inpatient management system, liaising with the Patient Flow Coordinator regarding case scheduling, liaising with the anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging and wards teams, emergency referral triage through telephone discussion with our referring vet & RVN colleagues, case acceptance in line with service & hospital-wide capacity and our emergency acceptance processes, and overseeing patient accommodation availability. You will also assist with keeping accurate hospitalisation records in the SmartFlow patient management system to ensure our inpatients are appropriately managed during their hospitalisation from point of admission.

This is primarily a non-clinical nursing role, though there will be rotations through our clinical services on induction for understanding of our hospital flow process, with occasional expectation to perform basic clinical nursing duties should assistance be required. The role is suited to a Registered Veterinary Nurse seeking a dynamic but primarily non-clinical nursing role within a multi-disciplinary referral hospital, where previous referral experience is advantageous.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
