Job Summary
Join the NHSBT Pay Support Department as a Pay Support Officer, dedicated to delivering an outstanding customer experience across 6,500+ staff payments annually.
You’ll need to:
- Demonstrate attention to detail and passion for service improvement
- Work under pressure while adhering to strict deadlines
- Operate within NHS terms and conditions and the ESR system
- Handle tasks such as expenses management, master file maintenance, payment processing, and query resolution
Main Duties
- Maintain NHS ESR record-keeping for employee data (personal + payroll credentials) with strict accuracy and timeliness aligned to operational targets.
- Provide day-to-day system support for:
- Expense claims (timely and error-free processing)
- Attendance data submission
- Ensure system reconciliation meets legal compliance and deadlines.
- Managers workload independently, coordinating tasks while resolving complex queries and delivering calculations or advice.

About You
Experience & Knowledge Required
- Expertise with DWP processes, PAYE, in-kind benefits systems, policies, and regulations.
- Full understanding of NHS Terms and Conditions (2018), including civilian medical/dental exceptions.
- Strong customer service ethos—proactive problem-solving in a results-driven environment.
Qualifications
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English & Mathematics (minimum standard).
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
