The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is seeking an experienced Payments Operations Analyst to join its Banking Services function. This role is ideal for a candidate with a background in banking operations, payments, cash management or transaction processing who can thrive in a controlled, fast-paced operational environment.
The Opportunity
You will play a key role in ensuring payments are processed accurately, securely, and on time. Working closely with Banking, Treasury, Procurement, and other internal stakeholders, you will support the end-to-end payment lifecycle while maintaining strong operational controls and mitigating risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain payee records and banking details.
- Process, monitor, and oversee payments through various payment channels.
- Ensure transactions are appropriately funded before release.
- Investigate and resolve failed, delayed, or rejected payments.
- Perform cash and payment reconciliations to ensure accurate movement of funds.
- Liaise with Banking, Treasury, Procurement, and other stakeholder groups to resolve operational issues.
- Follow internal controls, policies, and risk management procedures.

Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Previous experience within Payments Operations, Banking Operations, or Transaction Processing.
- Knowledge of payment channels such as SWIFT, BACS, or similar payment systems.
- Experience investigating payment-related issues and exceptions.
- Cash reconciliation experience.
- Strong operational risk awareness and control mindset.
- Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Desirable
- Experience onboarding and maintaining payee records.
- Broader Banking Operations experience.

What the Person Does Day-to-Day
- Set up and maintain payee records and bank details.
- Process and monitor payments.
- Ensure transactions are funded correctly before release.
- Investigate failed or delayed payments.
- Perform reconciliations to confirm funds have moved correctly.
- Work with Banking, Treasury, Procurement, and other teams to resolve issues.
- Ensure controls, policies, and risk checks are followed.
- Help improve operational processes.
