Payments Program Manager
Location: Berlin or London
The Payments Program Manager is responsible for driving excellence across partner program management, international expansions, and payment partner onboarding. Based in Berlin or London, you will own the end-to-end management of partner relationships—identifying issues, driving resolutions, spotting opportunities, and advocating for improvements that elevate partner and customer experience.
This role is hands-on, requiring the resolution of operational challenges, data-driven analysis to uncover root causes, and the leadership of cross-functional teams towards sustainable solutions. Additionally, you will identify and capitalise on new opportunities, such as global expansions, new payment methods, or process improvements that enhance efficiency and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Partner Program Management
- Own the day-to-day management of assigned payment partner programs, acting as the primary operational contact
- Develop and maintain partner governance frameworks, including:
- Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)
- Scorecards and performance metrics
- Escalation paths and health-tracking processes
- Monitor partner health metrics and proactively drive performance improvements in collaboration with partners and internal stakeholders
- Manage cross-functional dependencies with Product, Technology, Legal, Finance, and Compliance teams to ensure program on-track delivery
Issue Identification & Resolution
- Identify friction points in payment acceptance and partner operations through data analysis and stakeholder engagement
- Resolve operational escalations end-to-end:
- Gather relevant data
- Investigate root causes
- Coordinate remediation efforts
- Drive resolution to closure
- Develop business cases for improvements, set requirements, and advocate for solutions with partner teams and leadership
- Produce clear, data-driven reporting on program status, risks, and escalations for senior stakeholders

Expansions, Onboarding & Opportunities
- Lead onboarding of new international payment partners and payment methods, from scoping through go-live, ensuring adherence to milestones and Service-Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Drive geographic and product expansion programs, coordinating:
- Technical integrations
- Commercial readiness across markets
- Identify and pursue new opportunities to:
- Improve payment acceptance
- Reduce operational costs
- Enhance customer experience
- Build and optimise scalable processes for partner lifecycle management, spanning:
- Initial assessment
- Onboarding
- Steady-state operations

The Payments Business Operations (PBO) team ensures operational excellence across Amazon’s payment methods globally. Their roles include:
- Managing the full lifecycle of international payment partnerships
- Serving as the bridge between business strategy, technology, and partners
- Enabling seamless, scalable payment acceptance worldwide

Basic Qualifications
- Proven experience working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams
- Background in defining program requirements and using data/metrics to drive improvements
- Experience in program or project management
- Ability to implement repeatable processes and promote automation or standardisation
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and above -Experience defining and executing program strategy and end-to-end delivery
- Strong track record in owning program strategy, executing delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Relevant payments industry experience
- Hands-on experience in managing external partner or vendor relationships
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability in hands-on leadership of end-to-end delivery program execution
- Strong analytical skills, with a results-driven approach
- Success in leading medium- to large-scale projects to completion
- Experience leading process improvements and identifying operational inefficiencies
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to write clear, actionable documentation, such as:
- Business reviews
- Post-mortems and root-cause analyses
- Master’s degree, MBA, or qualification in business, operations, or a related field
