Payments Regulatory & Compliance Lead
Permanent, Full-Time Position (35 hours per week) Closing Date: Fri, 10 Jul 2026
We’re seeking a Payments Regulatory & Compliance Lead to join our Group Finance team, reporting to the Banking & Payments Operations Manager. In this role, you’ll ensure adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards across the Society’s payment systems and services.
About The Role
As Payments Regulatory & Compliance Lead, your core responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring regulatory changes and implementing necessary updates.
- Producing accurate payment regulatory reporting.
- Collaborating with internal teams to uphold compliance, mitigate payment-related risks, and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the Society’s payment systems and services comply with PSD2, payment scheme regulations, and other legislative frameworks.
- Monitor, interpret, and communicate changes in regulatory requirements (e.g., PSD2) to relevant stakeholders.
- Triage payment-related regulatory submissions (e.g., REP018, REP020) and ad hoc Material Incident Reports, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Respond to payment-related incidents and coordinate cross-functional corrective action.
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures to align with all applicable regulations and industry best practices.

What You’ll Bring

Technical Expertise
- Detailed knowledge of PSD2, including requirements for Payment Service Providers (PSPs), Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), and open banking regulations.
- Understanding of PCI DSS compliance for safeguarding cardholder data ( sécurity measures for processing, transmission, and storage).
- Proven ability to review payment processes, regulatory documents, and compliance reports with precision to ensure adherence to regulations.

Professional Experience
- At least 2+ years in a regulatory/compliance role within the payments or financial services sector, with a focus on UK payment schemes.
- Deep familiarity with regulatory frameworks, policies, and their application within a business environment.

Qualifications
- A professional payment qualification (e.g., Certificate in Principles of Payments (CertPAY)).
