Key Responsibilities
- Managing end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients across multiple pay frequencies
- Building strong relationships with clients and acting as their first point of contact for payroll queries
- Accurately inputting and validating payroll data, ensuring compliance with current legislation
- Reconciling payroll information and producing payroll reports and employee payslips
- Preparing payroll journals and PAYE reconciliations
- Creating and submitting BACS payment files
- Administering Pension Auto-Enrolment, including declarations and ongoing compliance with The Pensions Regulator requirements
- Preparing and submitting pension scheme returns, processing member changes, and liaising with pension providers
- Responding to queries from clients, HMRC, and internal teams in a professional and timely manner
- Keeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation and best practice to ensure continued compliance

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Previous experience working within a payroll bureau environment
- Experience managing multiple payrolls simultaneously and working to strict deadlines
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and statutory payments
- The ability to manually calculate payroll elements such as tax, NI, pensions, and statutory deductions when required
- A good understanding of statutory family leave, SSP, salary sacrifice arrangements, and auto-enrolment legislation
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to build relationships with clients and colleagues alike
- Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage changing priorities in a busy environment
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with payroll systems
