About the Role
This Payroll Administrator role plays a central part in supporting the finance function, balancing financial accuracy, payroll processing, and cross-team collaboration. Key responsibilities include: ✔ Validating and overseeing payroll data (timesheets, holidays, absences, and overtime) ✔ Preparing and posting payroll journals across multiple entities with precision ✔ Supporting reporting calculations, including 12-month average pay ✔ Acting as the primary point of contact for payroll-related employee queries ✔ Processing weekly purchasing card transactions and costing them in MRI ✔ Assisting with purchase and sales ledger activities for subsidiaries when required ✔ Offering flexible support to the finance team, including covering peak workloads and ad hoc projects ✔ Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
This is a dynamic, varied, and hands-on role that requires the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
- Input, verify, and process timesheets, holidays, absences, overtime, and other payroll variables
- Prepare and post payroll journals across multiple entities in line with month-end deadlines, ensuring they are correctly coded for nominal accounts, cost centres, and entities
- Generate 12-month average pay calculations for reporting
- Respond as the key contact for payroll-related queries from staff
- Process and allocate purchasing card transactions weekly into MRI
- Provide supplementary support for purchase and sales ledgers across subsidiaries
- Offer cover and ad hoc finance support to the wider team as needed
- Collaborate on ad hoc projects and undertake additional duties as requested
- Maintain strict adherence to all company policies, procedures, and work instructions
Note: Duties are not limited to the above; additional responsibilities may arise as business needs evolve.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
✔ Proven experience (2+ years) in payroll administration, preferably in a multi-entity environment ✔ Strong understanding of payroll legislation, including:
- PAYE, NICs
- Auto-enrolment
- Statutory payments ✔ Practical experience in posting payroll journals and performing control account reconciliations ✔ Exceptional communication skills, including clear verbal and written engagement across teams ✔ High precision, with the ability to process large volumes of data without errors ✔ Ability to travel to the office due to limited public transport access
