Payroll & CIS Administrator

Location: Portsmouth (Hybrid working available following successful completion of probation)
Employment Type: Full-time (Part-time considered for the right candidate)

About Loveless Accountants

At Loveless Accountants, we do more than prepare accounts and tax returns. We help business owners gain the time and freedom to focus on what they do best by delivering proactive, technology-driven accounting and payroll solutions.

As our firm continues to grow, we are looking for an organised and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join our expanding compliance team.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of client payrolls from start to finish, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with HMRC legislation.

Alongside payroll, you will administer workplace pensions, process CIS returns and support clients with payroll-related queries.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with clients, has exceptional attention to detail, and wants to develop their career within a modern and growing accountancy practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients.
  • Submit Real Time Information (RTI) returns to HMRC.
  • Process starters, leavers, statutory payments and employee changes.
  • Calculate and process SSP, SMP, SPP and other statutory payments.
  • Administer workplace pension schemes, including auto-enrolment assessments and pension submissions.
  • Liaise with pension providers to resolve queries.
  • Prepare and submit CIS monthly returns.
  • Register subcontractors and verify them with HMRC.
  • Maintain accurate payroll and CIS records.
  • Respond to payroll, pension and CIS queries from clients in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist clients with payroll software and employee record maintenance.
  • Ensure all payrolls and submissions are completed in line with statutory deadlines.
  • Keep up to date with payroll legislation and HMRC guidance.
  • Support the wider compliance team where required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
