Description
Join Scrutton Bland, one of the leading professional services firms in East Anglia, providing accountancy, tax, audit, and advisory services to a wide range of businesses and individuals across the region.
As part of our established and growing payroll bureau, we are seeking a Payroll Administrator to support a varied portfolio of clients across weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls. Our clients operate across a range of sectors, meaning no two days are the same, and you'll gain exposure to a diverse and interesting client base.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent attention to detail, and takes pride in delivering outstanding client service. You will work closely with an experienced and supportive team, receiving ongoing training and development to help you continue building your payroll career.
We’re looking for someone with previous payroll experience, whether gained within a payroll bureau, outsourced payroll environment, or an in-house payroll function. If you are organized, eager to learn, and enjoy developing strong relationships with both clients and colleagues, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of weekly and monthly payroll runs under the supervision of the Payroll Manager
- Collating information from clients in various forms
- Online client banking
- Processing advised changes including tax code, bonus, pay rate by agreed cut off dates
- Dealing with enquiries from clients, their employees, and relevant authorities
- Administering pension auto-enrolment
- Calculating holiday pay, SMP, SSP, SPP
- Processing starters and leavers
- Loading BACS payments
- End of month and year end submissions
- Completion of P45 and P60s
- Processing all reports including the submission to HMRC
- Issuing payslips to employees and a breakdown summary to each client
- Build and maintain relationships with a diverse portfolio of clients
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Someone with demonstrable experience in payroll, whether that be within a bureau, outsourced payroll environment, or an in-house payroll function
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and remain calm when managing multiple deadlines
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize workloads and manage several payrolls simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and client-focused approach
- Ability to work to strict deadlines and ensure payrolls are completed accurately and on time
- Proactive and collaborative team player with a willingness to learn and develop their payroll knowledge
- The successful candidate will have previous experience using payroll software systems. Experience with Employment Hero would be advantageous, although full training can be provided and it is not essential for the role.
