Your new company

Hays Accountancy & Finance are supporting a local employer in Halifax who are looking for a payroll clerk to join the team working over 3 - 5 days, flexible to suit the individual. Working within the small bookkeeping department as a team of 2.

Your new role

  • Assist with the preparation and processing of weekly and monthly payrolls.
  • Input and maintain payroll data including new starters, leavers, salary changes and employee benefits.
  • Process overtime, shift allowances, bonuses, holiday pay, sickness absence and statutory payments.
  • Ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Support pension administration, including employee enrolment and contribution processing.
  • Maintain payroll records in accordance with company policies and statutory requirements.
  • Collect and validate timesheet and clocking data.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies relating to hours worked, overtime and absence records.
  • Liaise with managers to ensure payroll information is submitted accurately and on time.
  • Assist with HMRC submissions and payroll compliance activities.
  • Support year-end payroll processes, including P60s and other statutory reporting requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have proven payroll expertise, ideally with end-to-end payroll processing and seeking a full or part-time role in Halifax, as this will be an office-based role working 3 - 5 days a week. You will need to have experience with Sage Payroll

What you'll get in return

  • The business offers a salary range of £26,000 - £30,000 (pro rata if part-time), depending on experience.
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata)
  • Permanent employment
