Payroll Clerk
Location: One Stockport Exchange, Stockport, Greater Manchester
Contract type: Permanent
We are looking for a Payroll Clerk to join our busy Payroll team at our Shared Service Centre in Stockport. The role is Full Time 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This is currently a hybrid of; office based 3 days per week, and home working 2 days per week, though the home working element is optional.

As a Payroll Clerk, you’ll be responsible for the processing of approx. 1200 employees’ pay on a weekly cycle. To put some more meat on the bones, the role will involve:
- Ensuring the timely receipt of data from Stagecoach locations, to strict deadlines
- Data entry into the Workday payroll system
- Calculation of pay associated with paid and unpaid leave such as sickness absence, annual leave, parental leave
- Performing accuracy checks per departmental procedure
- Self audit
- Responding in a timely manner to queries from internal and external customers.
- Administrative tasks associated with payroll

Essential
- Previous proven payroll experience is advantageous, but not necessary as full training will be given
- You’ll be computer-literate, with good proven knowledge and working experience of MS Excel
- You’ll have natural customer service skills and take on tasks with a friendly and approachable manner
- You’ll have great communication skills, both written and verbal
- You’ll have GCSE Maths and English
The working hours are as follows: Monday to Friday, flexibly between the core hours of 07:30 and 18:00, but with the need to front load more hours at the beginning of the week.
