Salary - Salary in line with National Minimum Wage

Hours - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week with flexible, hybrid working

Holiday - 22 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays)

About The Payroll Junior Role

TC East are looking for a Payroll Junior to join their team in the Letchworth office. This is an entry-level role, and no previous experience is required.

In this position, you will support the delivery of accurate and timely payroll services while developing your knowledge of payroll processes, legislation and systems. You will work closely with colleagues and clients, contributing to a collaborative team environment. Key responsibilities of a Payroll Junior will include:

  • Prepare and process payrolls in line with established checklists and procedures.
  • Calculate employee and employer pension contributions and manage related administration with providers.
  • Produce CIS statements, payslips and payroll reports, ensuring all outputs meet agreed deadlines.
  • Complete RTI submissions, pension checks and other payroll control processes accurately.
  • Support the team in achieving deadlines and KPIs through high-quality, timely work.
  • Carry out reconciliations and submit year-end payroll forms in line with HMRC requirements.
  • Review Auto Run payrolls and BACS payments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, maintaining accurate records and escalating complex queries where appropriate, while contributing to continuous improvement within the team.

About You

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • GCSEs and/or A Levels (or equivalent).
  • An interest in payroll, with a desire to build a career in this area.
  • Ideally have previous experience in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Be motivated and eager to develop your payroll knowledge, including legislation, systems and internal processes.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills when working with managers, colleagues and clients.
  • Have a high level of accuracy, while remaining reliable and able to handle confidential information.
  • Take ownership of your personal CPD and technical development.
  • Be proactive in supporting the team and contributing to a positive, collaborative culture.
  • Be a team player with a strong willingness to learn, take on new tasks and develop through experience.
