Hays Payroll are proud to be working exclusively with a purpose-driven international organisation who are seeking an experienced Payroll Lead to oversee payroll operations across a diverse global workforce. Your new role
As Payroll Lead, you will take ownership of end-to-end payroll operations across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring payroll is delivered accurately and in compliance with local legislation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing monthly payroll for UK and international employees and contractors.
- Processing payroll changes including starters, leavers, and salary amendments.
- Ensuring statutory and compliance requirements are met, including payroll reporting and pension obligations.
- Reconciling payroll data and resolving discrepancies.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for payroll-related queries.
- Working closely with HR, Finance, and external payroll providers to ensure smooth payroll delivery.
- Supporting payroll system improvements, automation initiatives, and process enhancements.
- Coordinating international payroll activity and liaising with external providers across multiple countries.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality and data protection standards.

What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll operations.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, pensions, and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with international payrolls, contractors, or multiple jurisdictions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working with payroll systems and identifying process improvement opportunities.
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
- Membership of a recognised payroll professional body such as the CIPP or GPA would be advantageous.
