Payroll Manager
Head of UK Payroll, Compensation & Benefits
About the Role
You will lead the end-to-end UK payroll, compensation, and benefits processes, ensuring accurate and timely delivery through an outsourced model while maintaining strong governance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple UK payrolls, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Own payroll inputs, controls, reconciliations, and year-end activities
- Manage outsourced payroll providers and ensure SLA delivery
- Partner with HR and Finance to ensure smooth process integration
- Oversee benefits administration and support salary review cycles
- Ensure correct payroll data, taxation, and HMRC compliance
- Act as a Workday/payroll data expert, ensuring data integrity and system efficiency
- Drive process improvements, controls, and audit readiness
- Act as the main contact for payroll queries, ensuring clear communication and issue resolution
Your Background
Essential Experience & Skills
- Strong experience in a standalone or senior UK payroll role
- Deep knowledge of UK payroll legislation (PAYE, NI, statutory payments)
- Experience managing outsourced payroll providers
- Familiarity with HR/payroll systems (ideally Workday) and strong Excel skills
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work independently
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset
