Interim Payroll Manager
Fixed-term contract (6 months) – Near Victoria £250–£350 per day (via umbrella company) Hybrid: 2 days in-office, 3 days remote Immediate interviews – To start in July 2026
About the Role
A fast-growing Fintech with 6 global entities is seeking an experienced Interim Payroll Manager to take ownership of payroll operations for c500 staff, primarily UK-based with some overseas employees.
You will business partner with HR and the People team, ensuring accuracy of payroll data while reporting directly to the Financial Controller. This is a 6-month interim opportunity with potential for long-term permanency, either by converting to a full-time role or transferring to a newly permanent team member.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end monthly payroll across 6 global entities (c500 staff), ensuring accuracy and timely submission
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant payroll legislation and regulations across jurisdictions
- Act as the primary point of contact for all employee-related payroll queries
- Coordinate with benefit providers, payroll vendors, and internal/external stakeholders
- Prepare detailed payroll reconciliations, post journal entries to the general ledger, and assist with financial reporting
- Stay updated on evolving payroll laws, implement best practices, and drive process efficiency
- Oversee employee expense reimbursements

Skills & Experience Required
- Proven payroll management experience, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Deep knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance
- Exceptional attention to detail and clear communication skills
Desired (But Not Essential)
- CIPP certification (or international equivalent)
- Experience with overseas payroll compliance
- HRIS and payroll software expertise, particularly with HiBob, Pento, or Deel
