About the Role

We are seeking a Payroll Manager to lead our HR Data, Systems & Payroll Service, ensuring accurate, compliant payroll processing for over 1000 colleagues.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

As Hestia’s Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of our day-to-day payroll operations, system management, and team oversight. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering accurate, compliant payroll services for all staff, ensuring adherence to UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, and best practice.
  • Managing ResourceLink payroll system, including:
    • Configuring and maintaining pay elements, pension schemes, and workflows.
    • Handling end-of-year processes, statutory deductions, and year-end reconciliations.
    • Leading payroll updates and system testing for continuous improvement.
  • Managing a team of payroll professionals, ensuring efficient, reliable operations and seamless service delivery.
  • Providing expert payroll advice and support to stakeholders, translating technical details for non-payroll professionals.
  • Driving excellent service and an inclusive work culture aligned with Hestia’s values.

What You’ll Bring with You

Essential Criteria:

✅ Strong technical knowledge of UK payroll and pension legislation (e.g., PAYE, auto-enrolment, pension obligations). ✅ Over 5 years’ UK payroll experience, including managing large and complex payrolls. ✅ Experience with ResourceLink payroll software (or ability to develop skills rapidly). ✅ Ability to interpret and apply legislation, including HMRC guidelines and P11D reporting. ✅ Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy and compliance. ✅ Strong Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, PivotTables) and proficiency with large datasets. ✅ Experience in pension administration, including pension flexibilities and claims processes. ✅ Clearly, you’ll need to demonstrate a commitment to HR, payroll excellence, and people support.

Preferred:

🔸 Payroll management qualification (e.g., CIPP) or equivalent expert knowledge. 🔸 Ongoing professional development and a track record of keeping up with legislation changes. 🔸 Voice in sharing your lived experience relevant to our services—we value authentic connections.
