Trafford Leisure has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Manager to join the team.
Salary: £42,000–£48,000 FTE per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Trafford Leisure Support Office, Altrincham Golf Course (Greater Manchester)
Contract: Part-time, Permanent (3 days per week)

The Role:
We're looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead our payroll function.
As our payroll subject matter expert, you'll take ownership of payroll for over 300 employees, ensuring colleagues are paid accurately, compliantly and on time. You'll also drive continuous improvement across payroll systems, processes and controls while providing valuable workforce insights to support organisational decision-making.

Working closely with People, Finance, managers and external providers, you'll lead key payroll activities including statutory reporting, year-end processes, compliance and payroll governance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Trafford Leisure's end-to-end payroll function.
- Ensure an accurate, compliant and customer-focused payroll service.
- Provide expert payroll advice and guidance across the organisation.
- Deliver payroll reporting and workforce insights to support decision-making.
- Drive improvements to payroll systems, processes and controls.
- Lead year-end payroll activities and statutory reporting requirements.
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support workforce planning, organisational projects and reward initiatives.
About You:
You'll be an experienced payroll professional who combines technical expertise with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
You will have:
- Significant experience managing end-to-end payroll operations.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory reporting.
- Experience in a multi-site or operational environment.
- Experience with payroll and HR systems, such as Humanforce, iTrent or similar.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, including advanced Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail, integrity and discretion.
- The ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
