This role goes beyond payroll processing. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to clients, support strategic initiatives across the payroll function, and help create an environment where people can develop and succeed.

What We’re Looking For

  • CIPP qualified or qualified by experience
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll operations within a bureau or accountancy practice environment
  • Leading the day-to-day payroll operations for a diverse portfolio of clients
  • Ensuring weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payrolls are processed accurately and efficiently to strict deadlines
  • Reviewing payroll controls and processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Using payroll data and reporting to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement
  • Building strong relationships with clients, intermediaries, and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted payroll advisor
  • Identifying opportunities to grow Payroll services and supporting business development initiatives across existing and prospective clients
  • Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and industry developments, providing guidance and updates to both clients and colleagues
  • Managing, mentoring, and developing junior team members, including delegation, quality review, coaching, appraisals, and performance management
  • Supporting wider team operations including resource planning, billing, and client service delivery
