Payroll Manager

Location: Manchester
Salary: Competitive + Benefits

Our client is a leading global organisation with a strong reputation within their sector and a large, diverse workforce across the UK. Due to continued growth and investment, they are looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Manager to join their established team and play a key role in the ongoing development of their payroll function.

This is an exciting opportunity for a payroll professional who wants to make an impact within a large, complex organisation. You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders, influence payroll processes and help drive improvements across a high-volume payroll environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end payroll process for 1,000+ employees, ensuring accurate and timely monthly payroll delivery.
  • Manage relationships with outsourced payroll providers, ensuring a smooth and efficient payroll service.
  • Review and approve payroll data, reconciliations, reports and statutory submissions.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex payroll queries, supporting employees, HR and managers.
  • Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, pensions and company policies.
  • Support payroll audits, process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Provide guidance and support to payroll team members.

About You

  • Extensive experience managing end-to-end payroll within a large organisation.
  • Experience managing payroll for 1,000+ employees is essential.
  • Experience working with outsourced payroll bureaus such as SD Worx, ADP, Zellis, Moorepay or similar.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Confident managing relationships with HR, Finance and senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
