Payroll Manager - Teddington (Onsite) - up to £55,000 - Permanent

The Role

A well-established business in Teddington is looking for a Payroll Manager to take full ownership of the end-to-end payroll function. This is a team-lead role, reporting into the Head of Payroll, suited to an experienced payroll professional who can combine technical accuracy with process ownership and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for the full employee population, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Commission calculations
  • Ensure full compliance with HMRC requirements, including PAYE, NI, and Real Time Information (RTI) submissions
  • Oversee pension auto-enrolment administration and compliance
  • Process statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.) and manage related employee queries
  • Manage year-end payroll processes, including P60s and P11Ds
  • Maintain and reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll queries from employees and managers
  • Liaise with HR on new starters, leavers, and contractual changes affecting pay
  • Manage relationships with external payroll providers/software (if applicable)
  • Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and ensure processes remain compliant
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and controls
  • Line manage payroll administrators/assistants (if team size requires)

Essential

  • Proven experience in a Payroll Manager role
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, and RTI requirements
  • Experience managing end-to-end payroll for a sizeable employee population
  • Hands-on experience with payroll software (e.g. Sage Payroll, ADP, Iris)
  • Strong Excel skills

Desirable

  • Experience managing or mentoring a small payroll team
  • Multi-site or multi-entity payroll experience
  • Experience with pension scheme administration beyond auto-enrolment
  • Exposure to payroll system migrations or implementations
