Payroll Officer (hybrid)

Payroll Officer – £29,500 – £31,500 (Dependent on Experience)

About the Role

The Payroll Officer will join a diverse team, reporting into the Payroll Team Leader. After completing mandatory training, you will be responsible for:

  • Producing weekly and monthly payrolls from cradle to grave (full-cycle processing)
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure payroll accuracy

Responsibilities

Key duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing high-quality payroll and pensions services to internal business areas, including acting as the point of contact for all payroll-related queries.
  • Adhering to service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Driving payroll process improvements to enhance:
    • Efficiency
    • Internal controls
    • Employee experience
  • Delivering payroll, pensions, and colleague expenses reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with:
    • Internal controls
    • HMRC legislation
    • Pension regulations
    • Audit standards
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships with:
    • Finance
    • HR
    • Third-party providers
    • Supporting risk management, issue resolution, and governance.
  • Following established best practice guidelines while maintaining a robust controls framework.

Requirements

Essential Experience

  • Recent experience producing payroll from cradle to grave
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Training Provided

  • Full training available to enable you to produce independent payrolls from start to finish.
