We’re currently hiring for a Payroll Project Lead based in London to lead on our payroll growth and expansion projects for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role reports to the Global Head of Payroll managing and delivering payroll set up and implementation into expansion and growth markets. You will work closely with our vendors (including Workday, CloudPay, and Deel), and work closely with People Operations, Reward, Finance, and People Technology to ensure alignment across the project and implement new payrolls on time per the project.

You’ll be accountable for day-to-day project management, stakeholder engagement, creating project timelines, and ensuring adherence to those and vendor management.

The Role

  • Support and implement payroll into new and existing markets
  • Lead the payroll project work stream and ensure stakeholders are kept informed
  • Partner with People teams to align on project goals
  • Prepare payroll for go-live and hand over to local teams
  • Support hyper care period and act as point of escalation
  • Vendor management, including performance management, ensuring Service Level Agreements are being met
  • Manage key vendor relationships (CloudPay and Deel) to ensure services meet Wise’s evolving needs and continuously evaluate the landscape to ensure Wise gets value for money
  • Work closely with Reward, Finance, Legal, People Operations, and regional leadership to align payroll delivery with business priorities.

About You

  • Proven project manager with experience managing large-scale, complex payroll projects
  • Strong vendor management skills, with experience optimising external partnerships and driving performance to SLAs
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Pragmatic and solutions-focused, with the ability to balance compliance, efficiency, and colleague experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth, and ambiguous environment is essential
