Payroll Specialist – Finance & Administration Team
About the Role
Join Years, a fast-scaling business dedicated to revolutionising dog food with human-cut, personalised meals designed to support each dog’s unique needs. We’ve grown from a bold idea to serving thousands of happy customers across the UK, with ambitions to scale internationally.
His/Her Mission? To ensure every member of our team is paid accurately and on time while strengthening payroll processes for a business built on continuous improvement. You’ll own end-to-end payroll and pension administration, collaborating with employees, managers, and external providers to uphold compliance, efficiency, and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain employee payroll and pension records.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and statutory returns.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, pension regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with HMRC, pension providers, and Finance to uphold accuracy.
- Support payroll reconciliations and accounting activities for Finance.
- Respond to payroll queries from employees and managers.
- Assist in payroll audits and year-end reporting.
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements for scalability.

Requirements
Experience
- Proven payroll administration experience, including payroll taxation.
- Pension administration background.
- Basic Accounts Payable (AP)/Accounts Receivable (AR) knowledge.
Core Skills
- Deep understanding of HMRC payroll legislation and statutory compliance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Hands-on experience with payroll/accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, ERP systems).
- Prior work in fast-paced, scaling, or startup environments.
