Interim Payroll & Benefits Specialist
Southampton | 3 days per week | Immediate Start
A growing PE-backed FinTech is seeking a hands-on Interim Payroll & Benefits Specialist to take ownership of a complex payroll environment and bring structure, controls, and documentation to a critical function.
This is not a payroll leadership role where you'll oversee a team. We're looking for someone who has personally processed payrolls themselves and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end UK payroll processing.
- Coordinate outsourced payrolls across Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, India, and the US.
- Manage benefits and share scheme administration.
- Build payroll standard operating procedures and process documentation from scratch.
- Support payroll controls, reconciliations, and stakeholder queries.
- Work closely with Finance and People teams to improve payroll processes and governance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
