Role Overview

You will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate, timely payroll for our UK teams on a 12 month fixed term contract. Working part time with flexibility on the days you work, you’ll keep our people paid correctly and compliantly, while supporting cyclical payroll activities and change initiatives across the Odevo Group.

This is a hands on role where your attention to detail, service mindset and practical payroll know-how will shine. You’ll join a friendly, supportive team and enjoy the autonomy to structure your week, with hybrid working from our Hemel Hempstead office and home.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

  • Most days you will run end-to-end payroll cycles, reconcile data, resolve queries and ensure compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements.
  • You’ll collaborate closely with HR, Finance and managers, maintaining spotless records, improving processes and delivering a calm, reliable service to colleagues.

What Success Looks Like

  • Payrolls processed accurately and on time, every time, with zero avoidable errors.
  • Statutory payments, deductions and HMRC submissions completed correctly and to deadline.
  • Clear, friendly communication that resolves employee queries quickly and prevents repeat issues.
  • Robust controls, reconciliations and documentation that stand up to audit and review.
  • Cleaner, faster processes through thoughtful improvements and effective use of payroll systems.
  • Strong partnership with HR and Finance to keep data aligned and stakeholders informed.

How You'll Spend Most Of Your Time

  • Preparing, processing and checking end-to-end monthly payrolls, including starters, leavers and changes.
  • Managing statutory elements such as PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, SPP, student loans, AEOs and pensions.
  • Completing payroll reconciliations, journals and reports for Finance, including year-to-date checks.
  • Submitting RTI files, handling HMRC correspondence and supporting year-end tasks (P60, P11D).
  • Responding to employee payroll queries with clarity, empathy and timely resolution.
  • Maintaining accurate records, data hygiene and contributing to process and system enhancements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
