Role Overview
You will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate, timely payroll for our UK teams on a 12 month fixed term contract. Working part time with flexibility on the days you work, you’ll keep our people paid correctly and compliantly, while supporting cyclical payroll activities and change initiatives across the Odevo Group.
This is a hands on role where your attention to detail, service mindset and practical payroll know-how will shine. You’ll join a friendly, supportive team and enjoy the autonomy to structure your week, with hybrid working from our Hemel Hempstead office and home.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
- Most days you will run end-to-end payroll cycles, reconcile data, resolve queries and ensure compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements.
- You’ll collaborate closely with HR, Finance and managers, maintaining spotless records, improving processes and delivering a calm, reliable service to colleagues.
What Success Looks Like
- Payrolls processed accurately and on time, every time, with zero avoidable errors.
- Statutory payments, deductions and HMRC submissions completed correctly and to deadline.
- Clear, friendly communication that resolves employee queries quickly and prevents repeat issues.
- Robust controls, reconciliations and documentation that stand up to audit and review.
- Cleaner, faster processes through thoughtful improvements and effective use of payroll systems.
- Strong partnership with HR and Finance to keep data aligned and stakeholders informed.
How You'll Spend Most Of Your Time
- Preparing, processing and checking end-to-end monthly payrolls, including starters, leavers and changes.
- Managing statutory elements such as PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, SPP, student loans, AEOs and pensions.
- Completing payroll reconciliations, journals and reports for Finance, including year-to-date checks.
- Submitting RTI files, handling HMRC correspondence and supporting year-end tasks (P60, P11D).
- Responding to employee payroll queries with clarity, empathy and timely resolution.
- Maintaining accurate records, data hygiene and contributing to process and system enhancements.

Who This Role Is For
- You are an accurate, organised payroll professional who thrives on getting the details right.
- You’re confident using SAGE Payroll (or a comparable payroll system) and comfortable learning new tools.
- You communicate clearly and respectfully, even when working to tight deadlines.
- You enjoy collaborating with HR and Finance and take ownership from start to finish.
- You value flexibility and can plan your part-time schedule to meet monthly and statutory deadlines.
Experience That Helps
- Experience running UK end-to-end payroll in a multi-entity or medium/large organisation.
- Hands-on use of SAGE Payroll; exposure to other HRIS/finance systems and data imports.
- Working knowledge of UK payroll legislation, pensions auto-enrolment and statutory payments.
- Building payroll reports, reconciliations and journals, and supporting audits or year-end.
- Contributing to process improvements, templates or checklists that reduce errors and rework.
