Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing for our UK-based employees in a fully remote environment. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely payroll operations while maintaining compliance with UK payroll regulations and HMRC requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process monthly/weekly payroll for UK employees accurately and on time
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions
  • Manage PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP)
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and RTI (Real Time Information) submissions
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records
  • Handle payroll queries and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare payroll reports and reconciliations
  • Coordinate with HR and finance teams on employee data changes
  • Support audits and ensure data accuracy and confidentiality

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or Payroll Administrator in the UK
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, NI, and HMRC processes
  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, ADP, Xero, or similar)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setup

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) qualification or equivalent
  • Experience managing payroll for multiple entities or large employee bases
  • Familiarity with pensions auto-enrolment
  • Experience in a remote or global work environment
