Payroll Specialist

Payroll Specialist – Bristol, Derby or Farnborough

Location: Bristol | Derby | Farnborough | Office-based with flexible/remote options Salary: £37,000 – £55,000 About the Role

Payroll only gets noticed when it goes wrong… That’s what makes this role so critical and engaging.

As our Payroll Specialist, you’ll keep a multi-country EMEA payroll engine running seamlessly—with accuracy, precision, and forward-thinking rigour. You’ll spot inefficiencies in legacy processes and champion modernisation, thriving in complex environments where small details make a massive difference. Ideal for detail-oriented problem-solvers who relish the satisfaction of making high-stakes systems work flawlessly.

🌍 Our Culture & What It Feels Like Here

  • A diverse, collaborative team where curiosity, ownership, and continuous improvement drive every process.
  • A human-first approach blending innovation with genuine connection.
  • Flexibility and growth in a dynamic startup-like culture that pushes boundaries.

Explore our ethos and opportunities on our careers page.

🔧 What You’ll Be Doing

Core Responsibilities:

  • Own the full payroll lifecycle across EMEA, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in every cycle.
  • Manage payroll calendars, inputs, validations, and approvals with flawless execution.
  • Review provider outputs, identify discrepancies, and proactively resolve issues before they escalate.
  • Stay ahead of legislation, ensuring payroll remains aligned with regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with People Operations, Finance, and external vendors to deliver a seamless payroll experience.
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and efficiencies to eliminate manual work and scale operations.
  • Maintain clear documentation and support system improvements/testing.
  • Serve as the trusted EMEA payroll subject matter expert, guiding internal teams and stakeholders.

The impact is clear: employees receive accurate, on-time pay—every time. Beyond that, you’ll modernise operations, reduce manual effort, and expand Pax8’s scalability in its global payroll support.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
