Payroll Specialist

This is a hands-on Payroll Specialist role focused on owning end-to-end UK payroll within a growing tech business, and opportunity to gain international payroll exposure. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the role offers strong exposure to payroll accounting, pensions, and global processes, with clear progression and development opportunities. Client Details Our client is a fast-growing, well-funded technology business who has recently brought a fully developed product to market and has secured partnerships with two major global brands. Backed by significant investment from leading investors, the business is in a strong financial position, this creates a unique opportunity to join a high-growth environment with the stability of substantial funding, alongside clear scope for long-term progression as the business continues to scale globally. Description Manage end-to-end UK payroll for c.100 employees on a monthly cycle Process salaries, overtime, and timesheets, including time & attendance (clock-in/clock-out) data Ensure payroll is accurate, compliant with UK legislation, and delivered to deadlines Act as the first point of contact for all payroll-related queries Manage payroll data from the People/HR team, ensuring accuracy and completeness Maintain and improve payroll systems and processes (HiBob / Pento exposure beneficial) Drive process improvements and strengthen payroll controls Administer UK pensions, ensuring accurate contributions and compliance Manage payroll-related benefits, including salary increases and workplace nursery schemes Support the future rollout of additional benefits (e.g. meal and travel allowances) Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve discrepancies Prepare and post payroll journals to the general ledger Support payroll-related P&L reporting and month-end activities Partner closely with finance to ensure accurate payroll accounting Support payroll across multiple international jurisdictions via external providers Contribute to the development of global payroll processes as the business scales Produce payroll and management reports for internal stakeholders Provide insight into payroll costs, trends, and variances Profile A successful Payroll Specialist should have: Proven experience running end-to-end UK payroll in an in-house environment Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, compliance, and best practice Experience with payroll reconciliations, journals, and payroll accounting (GL & P&L) Solid knowledge of pensions administration and payroll-related benefits Experience working with time & attendance systems, including timesheets and overtime Confident managing and validating payroll data from multiple sources (HR/People teams) Comfortable liaising with external payroll providers and supporting international payroll processes Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy Proactive and hands-on, with the ability to work autonomously while supporting the wider team Excellent communication skills, able to partner effectively with Finance, HR, and stakeholders Keen to develop and grow within a scaling business, with interest in gaining international payroll exposure Job Offer A competitive salary ranging from £45,000 to £60,000 per annum.
