Payroll Team Leader
Payroll Team Leader – Permanent Opportunity (Leicester)
We are excited to be recruiting for a permanent Payroll Team Leader role with an organisation based in Leicester, offering an outstanding opportunity to progress into a strategic leadership position in payroll management.
About the Company
The business operates within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) sector, and this role will be based out of its office in the heart of the city.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, process, and manage weekly and monthly payrolls with absolute accuracy and on time
- Ensure full compliance with:
- PAYE
- National Insurance Contributions (NICs)
- HMRC submissions
- All statutory payment obligations
- Audit and maintain the quality of payroll data, ensuring all documentation remains accurate and up to date
- Calculate and process:
- Holiday pay
- Sick pay
- Statutory payments
- Pension deductions
- Reconcile and balance payroll control accounts on both a weekly and monthly basis
- Provide precise payroll figures and reports to the Finance team
- Supervise and mentor Payroll Administrators, prioritising workloads, ensuring high-quality outputs, and upholding service standards
- Collaborate with the other Payroll Team Leader to act as a deputy for the Group Payroll Manager as required
- Drive continuous improvement, standardisation, and best practice across the centralised payroll function

Requirements
A successful Payroll Team Leader should possess the following expertise and experience:

- Previous payroll processing experience, including leadership in a professional environment
- In-depth knowledge of:
- Payroll systems
- Relevant payroll legislation
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- Ability to manage and mentor a team effectively
- Mastery of communication skills, allowing smooth collaboration with both colleagues and external stakeholders
- Proactive problem-solving and process improvement mindset
