Job Description

Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in Gloucestershire for a Payroll Technical Advisor to join the team on a temporary basis. You will ensure that services are accurate, effective and efficient, maintaining legislative and operational requirements all the while.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the delivery of an accurate, efficient payroll service, deputising for the Payroll & Pensions Service Manager and providing expert technical support to the systems team on payroll activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement by implementing payroll legislation changes, enhancing payroll systems and processes, and ensuring compliance with HMRC and pension requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, pension providers, Finance, Audit and other stakeholders to deliver customer-focused payroll services, resolve complex issues, and maintain accurate reporting and reconciliations.
  • Coach and support colleagues, develop payroll procedures and communications, and provide expert guidance on complex payroll, pension and statutory queries.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
