Priory Hospital Cardiff has an opportunity for a PBS Practitioner to join our team.
Priory Hospital Cardiff, Cardiff, South Wales is a low secure service for males and females with a personality disorder, learning disability or mental health diagnosis, delivered across three bespoke therapeutic placements (BTPs). It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes nearby providing access into and around Cardiff and a train station approximately 1 mile from the hospital. The M4 motorway is also close by, providing wider regional access.
What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team that is committed to supporting people's wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. We are looking for a PBS Practitioner to lead the implementation and delivery of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) across the service.
You will also:
- Work collaboratively with individuals, colleagues, and multidisciplinary teams to promote positive, proactive approaches that enhance wellbeing and quality of life.
- Conduct behavioural assessments to identify individual needs and inform support strategies.
- Develop, implement, and review Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and interventions.
- Provide specialist guidance, coaching, and training to colleagues and care teams.
- Support teams to deliver high-quality, person-centred care that promotes positive outcomes.
- Help reduce restrictive practices through evidence-based, least restrictive approaches.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, making recommendations for continuous improvement.

What you'll bring to the role
Essential for the role
To be successful in this role, you'll hold a qualification in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or a related field and have experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism. You'll be confident in conducting behavioural assessments, developing PBS interventions, and promoting positive, least restrictive approaches to care. A good understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and the Mental Health Act (1983) is essential, along with strong communication, report-writing, and leadership skills. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business travel are required.
