PCV (Bus) Driver
Department: PCV (Bus) Location: Milton Keynes Compensation: £15.00/hour
Description
Our PCV Drivers are responsible for providing a professional driving service that supports our clients and service users. In addition to operating a safe home-to-school transport service, duties may include operating the passenger lift and assisting the Passenger Assistant with serving users as and when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the vehicle safely, adhering to local road restrictions and speed limits. Any fines or tickets received must be reported to the office as soon as possible.
- Conduct mandatory vehicle checks before every use to ensure compliance with road standards. Report any defects to the office immediately.
- Secure all passengers and wheelchair users correctly with the appropriate safety equipment.
- Ensure the vehicle has adequate fuel for journeys, refuelling as necessary or instructed.
- Clean the vehicle inside and out weekly, at minimum.
- Remove and replace seating as required.
- Park the vehicle correctly in allocated depot bays where possible.
- Operate the passenger lift and assistive equipment safely for passenger entry and exit.
- Communicate with passengers and clients patiently and informatively.
- Assist the Passenger Assistant as needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to deliver the service with patience, professionalism, and a level-headed attitude.
- Hold a full unrestricted Category D driving licence (automatic restrictions acceptable) with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Possess a CPC qualification card, keeping mandatory training up to date.
- Minimum of two years’ experience driving a bus or coach.
- DVLA Digital Tachograph driver’s card, either held or willing to apply.
- Willing to undergo and pass a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
- Valid current and up-to-date D4 medical examination report.
