PE Coach

About the Role In this role, you will deliver Physical Education lessons to pupils across a range of age groups in a primary school setting, demonstrating strong expertise in sports coaching. Ongoing training will be provided to support your professional development, alongside opportunities to apply your experience to effectively engage and motivate students.

About First Step Physical Education Part of the First Step Sports Group, we specialise in the planning, organisation, delivery, and assessment of Primary School PE, providing high-quality PE and sports offerings across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

The Position We are seeking a PE Coach to work 30–35 hours per week, with experience in sports coaching and the ability to deliver sessions to our standards across various settings. The role requires:

  • A confident and adaptable individual who can engage young people
  • Experience working independently as a positive role model
  • Ability to deliver high-quality sessions that develop participants’ skills
  • Prior experience working within a school environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver PE lessons and sports to primary school-aged pupils
  • Maintain a respectable and assertive presence with pupils
  • Create exciting and engaging learning experiences
  • Demonstrate versatility, commitment, and willingness to learn
  • Ensure reliability, flexibility, and professionalism with clients
  • Travel between various school locations

Qualifications & Experience Requirements:

✅ Essential Criteria:

  • Hold an NGB Level 2 Coaching Badge or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in delivering sports in a school or sports sector
  • Strong knowledge of at least 3 curriculum areas (e.g., Games, Dance, Gymnastics, Athletics, OAA)
  • Experience creating and following lesson plans
  • Experience assessing pupil performance
  • Knowledge and passion for a diversity of sports
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Experience with risk assessment
  • Experience working with multiple age groups
  • GCSE Maths and English
  • First Aid and Child Protection Training (training available if required)
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Willingness to undergo further training
  • Driving licence and own transport (travel is frequent)
