Company Description
The Institute of Conflict Medicine (ICMED) is a dedicated space for the research and development of Conflict Medicine as an emerging interdisciplinary field. The Journal of Conflict Medicine (JCMed) is the official, peer-reviewed publication of ICMED. Historically, groundbreaking clinical data, tactical adaptations, and field reports from crisis zones have lacked a dedicated academic home, forcing frontline authors to compete for limited layout space in general medical literature. JCMed was established to change this, providing a dedicated research, publication, and conference space specifically engineered to codify Conflict Medicine as a distinct, specialised discipline.
While traditional military medicine focuses primarily on the combatant, and humanitarian medicine on the displaced, JCMed bridges the gap. Conflict medicine does not begin or end in the operating theatre; therefore, we explicitly seek research, case studies, and clinical guidelines that cover the complete, unbroken continuum of patient care—from the point of injury through to post-conflict rehabilitation. Our mission is to accelerate the dissemination of critical medical knowledge by enabling both military and civilian experts working in high-threat, resource-constrained environments to contribute their insights. Unlike traditional academic pathways, ICMed removes conventional barriers by welcoming contributions regardless of prior institutional affiliation, ensuring that invaluable frontline experience is never lost.
ICMED aims to directly invest in a safer, more resilient future for conflict casualties by supporting crucial scholarships and studies for the next generation of medical practitioners, supporting active frontline medical projects through our trusted humanitarian partners, and by keeping our journal globally accessible. Together, we ensure that resource constraints never prevent a practitioner from publishing vital data or accessing life-saving medical knowledge.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
