Peer Support Worker
Peer Support Worker
The Peer Support Worker sits within the peer support service at York Mind, a component of the wider adult services. This peer support service operates across the York Community Mental Health (MH) Hubs, part of the Transforming Our City project, in collaboration with partners from the local authority, NHS, and other voluntary sector organisations.
As a Peer Support Worker, your role will involve:
- Delivering one-to-one peer support to individuals accessing the service within community mental health hubs, Foss Park Hospital, and across broader community settings.
- Addressing a diverse range of needs—from enhancing personal health and wellbeing, facilitating access to community activities, combating loneliness, to providing an empathetic listening ear.
- Utilising your own lived experience of mental health to offer tailored support while adhering to strict professional boundaries.
- Working with individuals who may have serious mental illness.

Aim of the Post
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one peer support to clients as part of the Yor Community Wellbeing Hub and the Pathway to Recovery (P2R) Project.
- Being an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering support across the City of York.
- Assuming the role of a Peer Support Worker, managing and coordinating care for a caseload of clients referred to the service.
- Proactively contributing to the coordination of peer support, aligning with service processes and procedures.
- Maintaining accurate case notes and actively engaging in feedback and data collection to meet service reporting requirements.
