LOCATION(S) Edinburgh, Bristol, Chester, Leeds and Newport


HOURS Full-time


WORKING PATTERN Our work style is hybrid (at least 2 days per week or 40% of time in office)


What you'll be doing We’re seeking an experienced Pensions lawyer to join our Pensions Legal team within the Legal & Secretariat division.

Your role will connect pensions law expertise with:

  • Regulatory advice across our Insurance, Pensions & Investments businesses
  • Customer-focused pensions/retirement solutions
  • Strategic projects, BAU support, and regulatory change

The work spans:

  • Digital transformation (e.g. Scotland’s Widows App)
  • Designing members’ journeys
  • High-level engagements with senior leadership and multidisciplinary teams

You’ll deliver prudent, commercially driven legal services across: Product | Distribution | Governance | Regulatory | Customer delivery

The Legal & Secretariat division emphasises innovation and challenges you with: ✔ End-to-end digital Transformation ✔ Use of Technology, data and AI


Key accountabilities • Legal & Regulatory Advice

  • Hands-on advice on:
    • Workplace pensions
    • Master trusts
    • Personal pensions
    • Retirement products
  • Keep pace with law changes (with special focus on pensions legislation)

What we’re looking for A Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a minimum 3 years’ established experience (transferable experience considered) in pensions law.

You’ll demonstrate: ✅ Technical depth:

  • Control of contract/trust-based pensions ( davom statute/native governance)
  • Instinctive grasp of product governance and TPRArchtitecture

✅ Communicational subtlety: Distill niche legal risks for non-technical audiences

✅ Pragmatic mindset: Solve complex issues with a business-first approach
