Pensions Senior Associate/Legal Director | 8+ Years PQE | Manchester
Manchester has quietly become one of the firm's strongest pensions hubs. The team here advises some of the UK's best-known employers, household names, major public bodies, universities, and charities, on schemes that carry real weight. The work is complex, the clients are demanding, and the team is growing. At this level, the firm is not just looking for technical strength. It is looking for someone who can lead.
The opportunity
This is a senior role with influence. You will take ownership of the most complex matters in the Manchester team, acting as a trusted adviser to clients who expect commercial judgement as much as legal precision. You will help shape the direction of the local practice, working alongside the partner group to drive growth, develop junior lawyers, and deepen the firm's footprint in the North West market.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
