Penske Media Corp: Director, EMEA Licensing

Penske Media Corporation (PMC), the parent company of Rolling Stone, Variety, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, SXSW, The Golden Globes, and many more brands, is looking for a Dubai- or London-based, talented and results-oriented, Director/Senior Director, EMEA Licensing to join our Corporate Business Development team. This person will be the primary executive generating licensing revenue for PMC brands in the EMEA region and will be tasked with dealmaking across many industries and deal types. The Director will work closely with the Global VP/Head of International and key brand stakeholders to negotiate partnerships from conception through full agreement execution.

Responsibilities

Based in the UAE or UK and overseeing the development of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) as key markets of focus Areas of Focus: Events, IP/Brand Extension, Branded Hospitality, Media, and more Leverage deep relationships to source, negotiate and execute new partnerships and business ventures for PMC Primary duties include prospecting, lead development, negotiating deals, redlining contracts with Legal and partnership management at a senior level Work across internal stakeholder groups for respective PMC Brands (including Executive Management, Sales, Marketing, Editorial) to build support and consensus for new business initiatives, new markets, and licensing opportunities Success metrics will include annual licensing revenue and net new biz revenue Stay abreast of industry trends and developments to identify new robust opportunities for growth Attend industry events to prospect for new partnerships and biz opportunities Focus on developing large, strategic multi-year revenue programs vs. smaller, one-off opportunities Renegotiate and extend existing content licensing deals and other Biz Dev partnerships when needed

Requirements

10+ years’ biz dev experience with at least 5+ years’ licensing experience at a Media/Entertainment company Deep understanding and comfort with industry revenue models and business terms (e.g., revenue guarantees, royalties, rights & permissions, etc.) Demonstrated track record of leading and negotiating complex deals on pace while managing competing priorities; possesses extraordinary prioritization skills with attention to detail Can tap an established network of contacts as prospects Extensive experience building and executing innovative, non-advertising partner programs that drive recurring revenue Sophisticated understanding of contract review including the ability to expertly review/redline contracts and work closely with Legal to close deals Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment An expert communicator with a proactive, extroverted demeanor and a strong sense of urgency Extensive experience in managing and optimizing partnerships through deal execution and beyond 20-25% travel required including client meetings, trade shows, PMC offices, etc. Language: English native speaker; Proficiency in Arabic is a bonus but not required
