Responsibilities
Advising & Empowerment
- Act as the trusted Employee Relations (ER) partner—first point of contact for Regional Directors and Nursery Managers.
- Upskill and coach managers to confidently handle:
- Absence
- Performance
- Probation
- Grievances
- Create practical toolkits, templates, and training to support manager self-service and address knowledge gaps.
- Guide new managers through onboarding and support People Assistants with administrative process delivery.
Experience & Engagement
- Deliver engaging training sessions and attend regional meetings to reinforce policy consistency.
- Advise on Occupational Health and mental health support, helping managers spot and act on wellbeing concerns early.
- Drive initiatives to boost retention, promote inclusive practices, and evolve the overall employee experience.

Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Provide pragmatic legal advice (including Employment Rights Act updates) to minimize risk.
- Maintain compliant people policies and support change (e.g., restructures, redundancies).
- Act as the HRIS superuser for HiBob, ensuring data integrity, regular audits, and system improvements.
- Ensure all people operations align fairly and strictly with safeguarding and Health & Safety regulations.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with the wider People team to simplify processes, enhance automation, and future-proof HR services.
- Use data and feedback to identify trends, recommend policy updates, and challenge decisions constructively.
- Champion a "hassle-free" employee experience while embodying company values.
Requirements
You should have:
- Proven experience as an HR Generalist or People Advisor, with a strong focus on Employment Relations—preferably in a multi-site organisation.
- Experience advising on:
- Disciplinaries
- Grievances
- Performance
- Absence
- Flexible working
- Probation
- Experience with HRIS or case management systems (HiBob a plus, though not essential).
- Experience delivering training or coaching to managers on people processes and ER matters.
- Experience in or passion for the early years, education, or care sector.

Note: This is a hybrid role (2 days per week at our Support Office in Shoreditch, London).
