Join us at our Head Office in Carlisle as a People and Recruitment Administrator in our People team, supporting the Head of People and People Manager in delivering a proactive, high-quality service across all business divisions.

THE JOB
To support the People Manager in delivering comprehensive HR services, aligning with employment law and internal procedures, including the following key responsibilities:

Day-to-day operational support:
- Provide first-line guidance and compliant advice on all people-related enquiries.
- Manage transactional HR tasks including new starters, leavers, and promotions.

Core HR responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for Line Managers and employees on all HR matters (e.g., absence, grievances, disciplinaries).
- Partner with business managers to coach and support on people practices, ensuring alignment to policies/procedures.
- Collaborate on recruitment processes, including adverts, interviews, and onboarding.
- Offer performance management support with a focus on coaching, improvement plans, and professional development.

People data and policy development:
- Ensure accuracy and reliability in people databases and personnel files.
- Extract and present People data for business intelligence, helping identify growth opportunities.
- Support the development and implementation of HR policies, ensuring compliance with UK labour law.
- Facilitate employee committees, dialogues, and meetings to promote engagement and strong relations.

Strategic HR support:
- Assist in rolling out people change projects, driving employee engagement and buy-in.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice to maintain service excellence.
- Provide ad-hoc cover during peak periods or absences as required.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES REQUIRED
- Ideally CIPD qualified or a Level 5 candidate (working towards).
- Proven understanding of UK employment legislation and HR principles.
- Competent in HR systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle HRMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills with confidence in handling sensitive topics.
- Experience in conflict resolution and problem-solving with relevant HR matters.
- Analytical mindset and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Prior roles in people, HR or admin environments.
- Capacity to influence HR decision-making and promote best practices.
